FOOTBALL SOCIAL. The social hall of tho Boys’ Institute was crowded on Monday .night, when the annual social and presentation oi trophtes took place. Air. G. A. Troup occupied the chair, and among the \ isitors was the delegation Irom Auckland repreVhe Young GiTizens League, consisting of Mr. E. O. Cutten. Stipendiary Magistrate, Dr. 0. E. BU L ?% n - tendent Auckland. Hospital, T , r - j E - ; Purdle, secretary Education board, ana Mr Horace Stcbbing. organiser of the league. The chairman, in welcoming the visitors, spoke of the objects of their visit, to Wellington, and called for cheers which were heartily given by the hoys. Mr. Cutten said they were pleased to be present, and to see such a, large gathering of boys. They should be proud to belong to such an excellent institution, and the work done must have a wonderful influence in moulding the character of the future citizens. Short addresses were also given by Dr. Maguire, and Messrs. E. C. Purdle and Horace Stebbinv after which Mr. Cutten presented medals to the Yoliowlng-.-Third-grade: Soccer—Winners Charity Cup: I'., Jeffries. N. ISniitb. Fourth-grade: Winners o chainnionsiiip— G. Gill. 11., Greenfield. Fifth A: .WtH-ncrs of chanrpionslltp-W. Ooronno, M. Beilby. Mr. W. Auld of tho Football Association, presented the cups won during the season, and congratulated the Institute on the splendid results Mrs. D. T. Watkins presented a gold medal for the best sport, the winner being Cvril North. A medal for the most consistent Scout was awarded to Harold Allen, tho gymnastic, medals going to F. Burns and B. Dixon. The lion, president of the Cricket Club, Mrs. W. A. Parton, presented certificates and photographs to senior B, junior A., and junior E cricket teams, these being the winners of tho respective championships last season. Medals for the ping-pong tournament wero presented by Mrs. J. S. M'Kerrow, and the following received medals for Rugbv, being presented by Mr. J. Prendcville:—Fourtfc.grade Rugby: W. Lochore and A. Pinkerton: sixth-grade: F. Peterson and B. M'Oormac. The following were the toasts:—Wellington Rugby Union, proposed by Mr. W. A. Parton, responded to bv Mr. J. Preridevilio. chairman Wellington Rugby Union; Wellington Football Association, proposed by- Mr. G. A. Troup, and responded to by Mr. W. Auld. During tho evening the Institute orchestra. under Mr. A. Iremonger, rendered a number of items, arid Mr. Cunliffe sang a solo.
