FALSE PRETENCES ALLEGED
A WOOD AND COAL BUSINESS. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, Ahgust 30. Charges of obtaining £5OO by false pretences, with intent to defraud, and of stealing three sums of £5O and one of £9 19s. 7d., were denieel in the Police Courv to-day by Henry Patrick Moor. Evidence was given that accused offered a man a third partnership in a wood and coal business for £5OO, his representations regarding the .firm’s position being allegedly incorrect. It was alleged that he also'engaged four men as employees, obtaining from three £5O each, and from one £2O as fidelity bonds, Only the last mentioned received any money (£10), on his services being dispensed with. . Accused was committed for trial.
