WATER ROUTE TO BLACK SEA. A telegram from Munich last month . said that in the debate, by the Budget Committee of the Bavarian Diet on the Main-Danube Canal scheme, the Government representative declared that Bavaria and the.'Empire, with the help of third parties, should participate in.th® undertaking. Tho Government confidently anticipated that the canal would be A paying concern. It was calculated that the construction works would lie completed a 6 far Nuremberg in eleven years at a cost ot 9,700,000,000 marks (abort £35,000,000 at present rates). A share capital ot 250,000,000 marks, with a bond issue to the amount of 600,000,000 marks, was contemplated for the present. A favourable .return was expected from tho projected waterways at tho end of three or four years. , , .. By this scheme the canal system ot Western Germany will be linked, via the Danube, with the Black Sea.
