PATENTS OFFICES
EMPIRE SYSTEM PROPOSED CONFERENCE TO BE HELD IN LONDON By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright London, August 19. The Imperial Conference agreed that representatives from the Patents Offices of the Dominions shall, meet in London to consider the practicability of instituting a system that will be valid throughout the Empire. A memorandum now available shows that under the existing system, separate rights are required for each Dominion. Two proposals were submitted, the first suggesting the abolition of tho Dominion Patents Offices and the creation of an Imperial Patents Office similar to that of Washington; the second, the retention of the local offices along with the establishment of' a Central Empire Office where locally-granted patents would be recorded, such patents to have prima facie validity throughout the Empire. Any inventor obtaining a patent at a branch office would have the right to have a search made for novelty, such search being recorded on the P at ® n tTho conference will probably bo held early next year.—Special to Press Assn.
