(Rec. August 19, 11.25 p.m.) New York, August 18. At Chicago Kumageo defeated Sleem, 9 —7 ; o—l,0 —1, 6—2, and Shimidyu defeated Fyh’ee, /-2, 6—l, 9—7. Both Indians, who are native born, had slow serves ■and lobbed too frequently. They were therefore much at the mercy of the Japanese, who played, their usual swift slashing game, placing with accuracy and precision.—Aiis.-N.Z. Cable Assn. WORLD’S WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP (Rec. August 19, 9.5 p.m.) Washington, August 18. It is announced at Forest Hills that beginning with this summer the world s women’s tennis championship will be decided annually in the United States. The West Side Tennis Club has offered a cup emblematic of the perpetual world’s title. The first match will probably be between Allie. Suzanne Lenglen and the winner of the present tournament, who is likely to be Mrs. Mallory.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
