CRICKET PROBLEMS
NEW ZEALAND AND THE M.C.C.
(Rec. August 19, 11.25 p.m.) London, August 19. "Sporting Life" says: “When Fry enters the arena to oppose the criticisms of Armstrong, it is obvious that all is not well with the inner circles of our Cricket Council. Misunderstandings«svhich arose at the beginning of tho Australian tour and the selection committee’s bad management of the English elevens demonstrate that the two countries need to get together more before another tour is undertaken by either country." Commenting on tho New Zealand Cricket Council’s action in breaking off the negotiations with the Marylebone Club after learning the weakness of ths team proposed to be sent there, on tho ground that the tour was not likely to be a financial success, “Sporting Life” says: “This may sound foreign. to tho ethics of the game, but remembering Marylebone’s profits in Australia, the New Zealand Council is justified in its attitude. The crux of the matter is the inability of our first-class amateurs to make such a tour. If the M.C.C. had doubt on the point it would have done better to have declined , the invitation than attempted to raise a scratch side.” —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
