Montagu, Secretary of State for India, interviewed by the “Daily Telegraph” on the subject of status in the Empire, said: “Mr. Sastri* at the outset of the Imperial Conference, emphasised the point that the subject was one of burning anxiety to Indians. A resolution was passed by the Conference which recognised Indians’ Tights to citizenship. We should pay a special tribute to Mr. Hughes, Mr. Massey, and Mr. Meigheu for their ready acceptance of Inula as a sister Commonwealth to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, athu for the Imperial o'utlook which marked their speeches and actions.”—< Aus.-N.Z.
