AIRSHIP SERVICE
round-the-world scheme PRACTICABLE MR. ABHBOLT INTERVIEWED By Telegranh-'Press Association —Copyright (Rec. July 21, 9.15 p.m.) London, July 20. Tho Australian Press Association interviewed Mr. A. 11. A.shbolt (Agent-Gen-eral for Tasmania) with reference to ths Air Ministry’s communique. Mr. Ashbolt said ho had the highest official support and the best financial authority for saying that a commercial air service was practicable, provided Government assistance was assured during the first ten years covering the experimental periods. The first period, probably of two years, should demonstrate the scientific and mechanical practicability of an interImperial service. The second period of about seven or eight years should finalise the mechanical developments sufficiently to produce tho highest typo of airship, capable of a round-the-world service at a. maximum efficiency- in speed and a minimum cost, and so bo commercially practicable. After that Government assistance would not be needed, except in tho form of subsidies for mail and other services.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
