SUITABILITY FOR EUROPEANS DOUBTbD. (Rec. Julv 19, 8.10 p.m.) Sydney, July 19. Mr. A. Poynton, Federal Minister of Home Affairs, has returned from an extended tour of the Northern Territory and Papua. As a result of his inquiries he expressed a doubt about tho suitability of either New Guinea or tho Territory for Europeans. Everything possible should) be done to foster and encourage the native. o with whose adaptability and work he was favourably impressed', because without their aid the islands would be useless to Australia.— Press Assn.
