THE RISKS OF FAILURE. Melbourne, July 19. The Controller of Civil Aviation, Lieutenant Brinsmead, is endeavouring to dissuade Lieutenant Briggs from flying from Hobart to New Zealand until he has a flying-boat or somo other suitable machine. He contends that failure would bo disastrous to aviation in Australia. Lieutenant Briggs has replied that he desires to be the first to make such a flight. Ho says it is a sporting stunt, and denies that failure would have the effect suggested.—Press Assn.
