HENDON AIR TRAGEDY

ACCIDENT DUE TO HAWKER’S ILLHEALTH. (Rec. July 17, 5.5 pjn.) London, July 16. The verdict at the inquest on Harry Hawker, who was killed at Hendon, was that death was caused through accidentally losing control of the machine, due to physical disability. The evidence showed that the machine did not catch fire until it touched the earth. The medical evidence disclosed that Hawker was in bad health. A postmortem' examination revealed that an abscess on the spine and sudden haemorrhage had caused paralysis. Hawker’s neck was broken by the fall.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
