FLYING RACES
CAMBRIDGE WINS INTER-UNIVERS TY COMPETITION THE AERIAL DERBY By Telegraph—Press Association-Oopyrlghl. [Rec. July 17, 11.5 p.m.) London, July 16. The first inter-university air race between Oxford and Cambridge, three machines a-side, of similar type, preceded tho Aerial Derby at Hendon. The course was 120 miles. Cambridga won. All tho competitors were erstwhile war pilots. Seven of the Derby entrants, out of nineteen, scratched. Mars I, with 450 horse-power Napier Lion engine, piloted by J. H. James, won in the fastest time for a two hundred mile course. It also won tho first handicap prize. Lieutenant Longton, of the Australian Flying Corps, piloting SES, ft 220 horse-power Wolhely Viper, won the second handicap prize of .£loo.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
