July 17, 11.45 p.m.) London, July 17. At Paris, Samazenich (France) beat Jacob (India), 6—3, B—6,8 —6, 7 5, in the Davis Cup preliminary. Sleem (India) beat Laurentz (France), 4—6, 6—2, B—6, 6 —2, 6—o. Argentina has forfeited, to Denmark and the Philippines to Japan. The British team has sailed for America. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CANADIAN DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP. (Rec. July 17, 11.5 p.m.) New York, July 16. At Toronto, Peach and Todd won the Canadian doubles championship, beating Bennett and Holmes, 6—4, 5—7, 5—7, y 5 g— 3.
