OLYMPIC CLUB. The Olympic Club held its club championship over a course of five miles, from Hutt Park, on Saturday. Thirtythree runners faced tho starter (Mr. D. J Alabaster). Immediately after the start T. Wilson went to the front, closely followed by Campbell, Griffen, and Craig, the rest of the fiell being well bunched. The order was practically tho same until tho field reached the Waiwetu Hill, when Scatchnrd replaced Wilson, and Campbell ran up into second place. Griffen, Moore, and Wiren being in close attendance. Along the Waiwetu River, the above order was maintained, and on the turn for home, T. Wilson replaced Campbell, and strongly challenged Scatchard, but the latter managed to keep in front On entering the racecourse Scatchard was leading Wilson by about thirty yards, with Campbell about a similar distance away. The order wae the same past the finishing post. The results were:—W. Scatchard, I (time 35min. 53sec.); T. Wilson, 2 (time 35min. ' 58sec.); C. Campbell, 3 (time B6min. 12sec.); 11. Moore, 4 (time 36mm. 24sec.); K. Griffon, 5 (time, 36min 43sec.j ; A. Wiren, 6 (time 37min. Usee.).
The sealed handicap, run in conjunction with the championship, was won by W. Scatchard (time 35min. 53sec.), but, on. account of Scatchard’s Winning tho championship, Hie first prize goes to C. Campbell (time 35min. 57sec.). T. Wilson was a close second (35min. 58sec.). K. Griffen was third (36min. 3sec.). The following teams were picked to represent the club in the forthcoming provincial championship:—A team: W. Scatchard (captain), T. Wilson. C. Campbell, K. G-riffon, H. Moore, H. Wiren. B team: A. M'Cormick- (captain), K. Beaglehole, N. Craig, A. Slfeats, W. Carter, A. Tracey. C team: C. Fraser (captain). A. Workman, E. A. Selman, T. Crosbie, A. Morris, E. Clarke. D team: R, Osborne (captain), M. Clark. I. Lacon, M'Knight, J Wiokens, P. Wilson. ‘ _ The officials for Saturday were: D. J. Alabaster, starter and recording steward ; J. V. Power, timekeeper and number steward; E. A. Shaw, judge and course steward; selectors, D. J. Alabaster, E. A. Shaw, and W. Scatchnrd. Next Saturday’s run is from Lyall Bay. BROOKLYN CLUB. At tho kind invitation of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Mitchell, the weekly run of the Brooklyn Club was held from their residence at Roseneath. Although somewhat on the short side, an excellent trail was laid by' A. Mitchell anil L. lodd. The trail led over to TTataitai, on to Constable Street, and along the hillboverlooking Lyall Bay. Here it dropped down to Lyall Bay, cut across to the golf house, then back to Kilbirnie, and thence round the Evans Bay Road home. The last part of the journey was very hard going, the wind beating against the rv>ners with hurricane force. A handicap race of 250 yards resulted in Gittinas ■ securing first place,'with- Dbbson second and Hill third. After the run the limners and supporters were entertained at ton by Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell.
