PUBLIC SERVICE PENSIONS
Sir—Your correspondents, Captain Barclay and "Dum Vivimus, Vilnius," have, earned the gratitude of the suIKwnnnuated public servants in bringing into notice their case with regard to the cost of living bonus. I am sure many will rather go without a share than so sacrifice their self-respect as to answer the questions demanded of them. If is not a dole that we seek, nor are we out to "scramble” for benefits. <it the. expense of the country; but having agreed for our "penny n day” we may fairly ask . that we shall receive not so greatly less. Since the pensions hare been earned by service, and are net charitable aid allowance*, surely private means do not enter into the question, nnv more than were the private means of' members of Parliament considered when the honorarium was recently inrren'ed Thanking you,—T am. etc., ANNUITANT.
