Whj-te will take entries for all events at the winter meeting of the Wellington Racing Club, with the exception ° f Acoeptanceß for all events at the nevirke Hunt Club meeting close ou Fndav next at 8 p.ui. . , The Auckland-owned Kauri King ha« arrived at Hastings, and will contest th« Hawke’s Bay Hurdles to-morrow, lhe old Soult gelding looks exceptionally well. It is expected that the entries for the Trial Plate at Trentham will be very large, and the list will include several maiden two-year-olds, who are known to be very fast. Trentham stables will be represented by Moutoa’s Gift and Edendßh: Rosebery looked like having a. winning chance in the Minter Hack Hurdles at Napier, but he was feeling the stress in the run in from the last fence, and could only finish third. It was his best effort to date, and his chance should O °Kohu °<lid not make a very good beginning OB a steeplechaser, for he foil at Napier on Saturday. He Is nicely we ghted at Hastings to-morrow, and it will tie no surprise if his connections decide to race in the Hawke’s Bay Hurdles. The Dannevirke-owned but Martontrained BID has been giving his trainer. James Coyle, a lot of trouble of Ihte That promising two-year-old Danger 2kme is in regular work at Hawera, and most probably his trainer has the idea of racing him in the Trial Plate at Trentham. Most trainers favour giving their two-year-olds a run in this race, as it assists to get. them ready for the early spring meetings. Cross-country Jockey F. W. MCabe. who is well known in New Zealand, has lately been riding in India . where lie did fairly well. When the last mail left he was in England but was going to France to fulfil some engagements there. Marble Alley, who went wrong at Hawera last, week, was being got ready for the Trial Plato at Trentham. It was most unfortunate for his owner to lose the half-brother to Radial, as he gave promise of turning out a useful horse. A prdmising hack seen out at the Napier meeting was Kail (All Black—Mrs. Wiggs) who finished third in the Settlers’ Hack Handicap. Kail, who runs in the nomination of Mr. J. Mackay, will se" a better day. , The Queensland jockey. K. Tucker, who is attached to the Kemball stable, has gone on a visit to his parent’ In Brisbane. but he is returning in time for tho of the flat season.
