SITUATION SAVED BY INCREASED FARES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, June 20. At the annual meeting of the Christchurch Tramway Board a net profit of _£BBs was shown. The total earnings were <£251,351- Nearly a million and a half loss passengers were carries M l)in during the preceding year, but increased faros saved the situation. In tho coming year, said the retiring chairman, the Hon. J. Barr, tho utmost care would have to be exercised so that a further increase in fares might be avoided.
