STEW ARDS’ STRIKE IN ENGLAND. (Rec. May 19, 11.30 p.m.) London, Alay 19. Despite the stewards’ strike the Atlantic and Cape liners are sailing at scheduled dates. Twenty-seven vessels have left Liverpool since the strike began on May 6. The stewards shipped are mostly volunteers, but an increasing number of unionists are offering to sign

on. The speakers at a mass meeting of stewards in Liverpool admitted that the older unionists were accepting the shipowners’ terms. The “Morning Post” states that the strike has been practically broken.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
