LENIN’S “CONVERSION”

WORLD REVOLUTION “OFF." Accounts of the tenth Communist congress, held in Moscow, which were telegraphed to Paris from Reval, contained the unexpected statement that Communism had been abandoned by ths Bolshevik Government. According to the report published by the “New York Herald,” Lenin declared that the expectation of a world revolution had been given up, and that a grant of concessions to foreign capitalists and agreements with bourgeois Governments were indispensable. He is represented as having declared that the farmers must own their own land, being allowed to sell what they do not give up in payment of taxation, while, pending the establishment of great’ Socialist enterprises, artisans must be allowed to work for themselves. According to this same account, the English writer, Mr. Ransome, has just arrived in Reval, after his visit to Lemn, and confirms the report that the latter finally persuaded the delegates to the Moscow congress unanimously to abandon Communism. Mr. Ransome is reported to have said that Lenin frankly admitted that he had made mistakes and that on hearing of the conclusion of the Anglo-Russian agreement Ins remark was, “I fear I have become respectable. Ho thereupon dictated the following message to the British Government:— The agreement will be useless unless the British Government ceases the mistrust shown - towards ub for three yeai’S. Our best and only propaganda will be the example given to the world of our economic , reconstruction of Russia.” < From the account of the congress published by the "Humanite” (says a Paris correspondent), it is very difficult to make out what took place, except that Lenin paid much attention to the question of foreign concessions, which, he declared, constituted a contract with capital, tho result of which would be an 1 increase in production.
