A NATIONAL SHOW

ADVOCATED BY MANAWATU A. & I’. ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph—Special Correspondent. , Palmerston North, May 9. At. the annual meeting of the Manawatu A. and I’. Association, Mr. T. H. Haddon brought up the question, of a “royal” ,or national show. The matter had been under discussion by the Council of Agriculture, ho said, but so far nothing had cventua’-'ed. The proposed show, he thought, should lie held alternately in the North and South Islands. It would bq a fine advertisement for the Dominion, and should be subsidised by the Government. At present several associations claimed to hold the premier show, and something should be done to give them an opportunity of proving their position. Mr. Haddon moved that the Council of Agriculture should be urged to arrange for the holding of a. “royal" or "champion” show alternately in the North and South Islands. The motion was seconded by Mr. W. M'Kenzie and spoken to by Mr. M. A. Conway, who pointed out that the extra good stock now being bred in New Zealand was inducing breeders from other parts of ths world to visit the Dominion in search of the best. If the show were established, there would be a large influx of breeders from overseas to the fixture, as they would know that they would find all tho bdst stock Jin the Dominion gathered there, and would be able to make a selection.

The motion was carried unanimously.,
