MASSEURS’ REGISTRATION ACT
BOARD’S OPERATIONS TO DATE. During the 1920 session of Parliament considerable interest was displayed in connection with the passage through ths House of the Masseurs’ Registration Bill. No objection was raised to the general purpose of the Bill which was to bling the practice of massage under control and thus improve the status of the profession as well as prelect the interests of the public. Some exception was taken, however, To some of the provisions of tile measure, but eventually in an amended form the Bill found its way to the Statute Book and is now in opera- / r Speaking to a representative of The Dominion yesterday the Minister of Health (the Hon. C. J. Parr) stated that in pursuance of the Masseurs Registration Act a board had been established. The Government had been exceedingly fortuiiaTfe : Yii securing tho services of Dr. Hardwick-Smith, of Wellington, who had been appstfffed to represent the medical profession, and Miss L. .... Brandon, 4RR C. who represents the massage professToh. The other position on iffie board is an ex-officio one and is held by Dr. D. S. Wylie, of the Health Department. / , Since the beginning of the year the board has held several meetings and has ilfe registration system well under way.
