INVESTIGATIONS BY AMERICAN
STATE DEPARTMENT.

It is understood that the latest Japanese operations in. Siberia have caused Mr. Hughes (Secretary of State) to start •investigations into this entire question of the Japanese continued occupation of Siberia and Northern Sakhalin. It is learned that the State Department is considering the sending of a Note to Tokio suggesting the withdrawal of Japanese troops.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
