H.M.S. PHILOMEL
The accommodation that is being provided on JI.M.S. Philomel now io he used as a training ship, was t’he subiect of a lottor_ published in yesterday’s DoMin.ion. Tim correspondent suggested that the accommodation was not what it should be, and he asked that the Prime Minister or fihe Naval Advisor should examine the ship for themselves. The Minister of Defence (Sir Ilenton Rhodes) said yesterday that the late Naval Adviser had seen the plans for the repairs and alterations that were being carried out on vhe Philomel. Tho present Naval Adviser, who was a highlyqualified and efficient officer, was personally supervising the work. Tho Minister himself had inspected the ship. The public could rest assured that the preparation of the ship for its new duties would, lie properly carried out'. Sir Heaton Rhodes mentioned that when the Philomel was ready for use ns a training ship, she would go to Auckland.
