WIDOW'S ALLOWANCE UNDER WILL INCREASED.

In the Supreme Court yesterday, reserved judgment was. given by the Chief Justice (Sir Robert- Stout), on tire application by Elizabeth May Armstrong (Mr. G. Hay), for a decision as to the adequacy of her benefits under the will of her late husband, Walter Armstrong, who died on May 13 last, leaving his widow and six children by a former wife. Under the will the widow was to receive an annuity of £2OB. At the hearing recently, counsel for the appellant asked that she should receive at least. £4OO a year and a lump sum of £lOO9 or more. Mr. C. P. Skerrett,* K.C., for the executors of the estate, admitted that perhaps the allowance was meagre. His Honour ruled that an increase of £92 per annum'should be paid to the appellant, bringing her income up to £390 annually She would be allowed also £8 Bs. costs, to be paid out of th? rotate. No order was made as to the payment of a lump sum.

ADJUDGED A BANKRUPT

On the motion of Messrs. Townsend and Paul, His Honour adjudged a bankrupt William O’Dwyer, o£ Masterton, fruiterer, who owed the petitioning craditors £B7 Ils. 2d.
