ITALIAN COMMUNISTS MALTREATED

(Rec. March 15, 5.5 p.m.) Rome, March 14.

The dead body of Piccoli, a well-known Communist deputy, was found in a tunnel near Reggio. Other extremist deputies are also being maltreated. Matteetti was kidnapped, and is still imprisoned. Agnini and Donati, two other Socialist deputies, were waylaid at Modena and beaten. The outrages seem to be due to the Fasciscti, an organisation of ultra patriots, whose object is to suppress the Communists by intimidation and violence. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
