ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
H.M.S. CHATHAM V. H.M.S PHILOMEL.
Teams from the warships Chatham and Philomel met at Association Park on Saturday, an interesting and keen game being the result. Some fina football was shown by members of both teams. Ihe men from the flagship displayed the better combination, and won by 3 goals to 1. Philomel won the toss, and made the mistake of playing against a strong wind in the first half, w-ith the result that they were on the defence nearly all the spell. The Chatham men were two goals up when the whistle sounded halftime. On resumption the Philomel men attacked strongly, erratic shooting nulhfying all their efforts. Each side scored a goal in the second half. The referee was Mr. W. Auld. , The Wellington Football Association has granted tho use of' two grounds on Association Park to the ships’ crews for practice. On Saturday next the mail from the Chatham will play the Waterside Workers’ Football Club at Association Park.
