MEAT INQUIRY

ALLEGATIONS TO BE INVESTIGATED.

The Prime Minister and the Minis er of Agriculture promised some time ago that investigation would be made int< allegations put forward by Mr. H. Holland, M.P.. that meat in a condition unfit for human consumption had been exported from New Zealand. The allegations were denied officially at tne time, although it was admitted that piolonged storage had caused a certain amount of deterioration. ' The inquiry has been delayed, chiefly owing to the difficulty of selecting ; a suitable tribunal. It is understood that arrangements are now being made for tho appointment of a commission headed by Sir Thomas Mackenzie, • late High Commissioner for New Zealand.
