YACHTING

« SATURDAY’S RACING. • There were three events set. down for Saturday’s yachting races, but owing to a southerly gale which came up suddenly soon after two p.m. the race for yachts 20ft. and under (centre-boards) had to be abandoned. The first and second class yachts held their races, the course, being about twelve miles. There were seven entries.in each race, and the results were as follow: — First-class yachts—There were seven entrants, and the handicaps were as follow Marangi. scr.; Rona, 7min.; Atftlanta, lOtnin.; Ailsa, llmin.; Wanderer, 14min.; Viola, 16min.; and Wairgre 11, 17min. All the yachts covered tho course, and the race resulted as follows: —

Wanderer, I—shr.»2omin. Wairere 11, 2—slns.' 26min. 45sec. Ailsa, 3—shr. 30min. 15sec. Second-class yachts—The entrants .and handicaps were: Wairere I and Romp, scr.: Tolanthe, 6min.; Wylo, Rmin.; Lizzie, 13min.; Rawene, 16mini; and Muritai, Ifimin. The Wylo's mainsail carried away, and she did not finish, neither did Wairere J nor the Romp cover the course. The race resulted as follows: Muritai, I—shr. 33min. 45sec. Tolanthe. 2—shr. 36min. 45sec. Lizzie, 3—shr. 40min. 15sec.
