Iu connection with the suggestion for closing the cottage hospital at Otaki, a conference, to consider the matter was held, at that place to-day between the committee set up by U ie Palmerston Nortlfe Hospital Board and representatives of the Health Department. A deputation of residents of the district, 'introduced by Air. AV. H. Field, M.P., strongly protested against tho hospital being closed. It is understood that satisfactory arrangements were come to for keeping the institution open. The committee will present its report to a meeting of the Hospital Board, to be held at Palmerston North to-morrow.
