DECEASED SOLDIERS' MEDALS
Sir,—A few days ago it was tho lot of my wife and self to receivo through tho post tho 191-t to be followed l later by the British < r medal and tho Vic- . Tory medal, this decoration being due to my only child, Ido not know what the feelings of other next-of-kin may bo with regard to this method of distributing these decorations, which to very many must bo very sacred, if not dearer than life. To my mind, in cases whero tho supremo sacrifico has been, made/it would have been mor<j becoming had tho next-of-kin received' these decorations from the hands of tho King's representative, thus showing nt lenst som* respect to tho living and the dead. Being himself a gallant officer, His Excellency would, I am sure, bo only too willing to do all within his power to honour other bravo men.—l am, etc, RESPECT. Tipper Hutt, December 28, 1020.
