NEW ZEALAND MEAT IN CANADA
Mr. Richard Cobbe, of Fending, who hns recently returnedfrom a trip abroad, made careful inquiries in relation to frozen meat in Canada and the United States. He declares that in Canada ho discovered an official, whoso salary is paid by the New Zealand Government, acting as agent for an American firm, and understood that he was doing so with the knowledge of the Department in. which he is omplo.vcd. Mr. Cobbe'a observations led him to believe that tho whol.> of the New Zealand lamb landed on the Pacific Coast during t'ho past few years hns "Westfield" (Auckland) tags attached, and this would appear to explain in a great measure why in the Waikato farmers could g-?t space in the Westfield Works. Mr. Cobbe found that takin" the present rnto of exc'hnnge into account, New Zealand lamb is lnndecl at Vancouver for B.}d. per lb-, wliilo it ifl retailed at Is. fid. to Is. 8(1. per lb.
