Tlie Mayor (Mr. ,E. P. Eieh worth). presided over last nighfs meeting of the Lower Hutt BoroUgh Counoil. A resolution , approving Uie iotrod'jction, of a system of premium bonds in connection with" local bodies' loans was received from the Gishorne Borough Counoil,- with a. Tequest that the counoil urge upon thc'Governmeut the advisability of legislation in that direction.—The Mayor remarked that .the scheme before them wns nothing more or less than : a good gamble. On the motion of Councillor Mitchell, seconded bv.Councillor Quincss, it was decidcd to take 'no action.
The Town Clerk, Wellington, advised that the City Council declined to pfvy tho motor delivery van license fees.—lt was decided to hold the matter over • until the merits; of the case, -Petone v. City Council, Trad been adjudicated upon. On tho motion of Councillor Cotton, seconded by tho Mayor, it. was decided to send a letter of protest to the Department, i On thn motion of the Mayor, seconded by Councillor West, it was decided: to accent the offer of Messrs. Fullerton, .Smith-and>.Co. of a section of land in tho Midford. Estate, adjoining the puniDinir station.-:- for. <650..
The tender of Mr. H. Savatre for the supply of dog oollars for 1921 was accepted. ■
