The tour will commence in Auckland on January 3, and the Wel'lington season will . commence about January 22. The personnel of the orchestra, with the exception of two or three member? of the jjrofessorial staff of the Conservntorium who are unable to leave. their -duties in Sydney, is practically, the sume as before. /The new-comei-9 fnclude those brilliant young New Zealanders Harold and Haydn Beck. Mi 6? Jfnny Cullen is now the leader of the orchestra. The matter of the tyro-> gramntes to be played has heen gone into thoroughly by Mr. Verbrugghen, with the result that he has decided to include a considerable amount /of Brand -opera music in addition to the most famou« of orchestral compositions. Vocal anc instrumental gems from "Faust," "Car.men," "II Trovatore," _ "Tannhauser* *T,a Boheme," 'Tagliacci," "Cavallerlt Jtufticana," "Lonrmirrin." "Bohemlai Girl." and "Maritana" will figure lareel; in the programmes, and in order thai the vocal. numbers shall be presentee with the same standard of' excellent that is set by the orchestra,- Mies Elsj Treweok. the popular soprano, Signo: Balbonl," the famous Italian operattc tenor, and Mr. _ Carl Formes, barjtone have nil been engaged to sing the Tari ous popular vocal items (hat will be pro grammed. It is hoped also to- be alii to maiie arrangements with the varloui choral societies in Auckland, Welling ton. and Dunedin to join up with Mr VerbruggTien in order that some of tlv best-known choruses from grand opej;, may be included.
