« "A COUNTRY GIRL." Judging from the very good form ihown by the Wellington Amateur Operatic Society at the dress rehearsal of "A Country Girl" at thg, Grand Opera House last night, the season, whioh is to commence this evening, should be entirely successful. Mr. Tom Pollard has worked tirelessly with principals and chorus to bring them up to tho present point, and one and all are co-operating heartily to ensure a harmonious whole. Among the catchiest numbers that will be vamembered in this delightful musical comedy are "Try Again, JohnJiy," "Yo, Ho. Little Girls," "Undor the Deodars," "Chick,. Chick," "The Rajah of Bhong," "Peace, Peace," "My Doar Old Country Home," "Take Your Pretty Partners at the Ball," the "Quarrelling Duet, |My Crinoline," and 'My Partners.' Tho chief characters are being assumed by Misses Eileen Clifford, Helen Gardner, 'Anne Sullivan, Rennie M'Lellan, Marjorin Saunders, Mrs. D. Bridge, Messrs. Alan Fuller, Fred. Twiss, Ken. Luke, Eanto Wood, Lionel Inch, and Dr. D. N. Isaacs. The chorus consists of 70 voices. Including 50 of Wellington's, prettiest girls, and a full operatic orchestra wUI be under the baton of Mr. Bernard F. Page. As tho booking is already heavy, those who intend Beemg "A Country Girl Bhould lose no time in visiting the Bristol. KING'S THEATRE. A particularly pleasing programme at the King's Theatre this week is headed Iby the film drama "Even as Eve, a picturisation of Robert Chambers 6 story» "Thti Shining Band." The picture is an excellent one, the many situations and strong incidents being exceedingly done. In support, a highly humorous comedy, "The Rajah," and sacral topical budgets aro screened. The R eol ? r t Quartet continues to prove popular, tno musical offerings of this combination bring of high order. There will be a matinee at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow. "THE GREAT GAME." The DruryLaria sporting drama. "Tho Great Game," which is being screened at Everybody's Theatre, is attracting considerable attention from picture pa" 0116 ; and' big business is being receded at every session. The last three nights aro announced. Bombardier Wells has established himself quite a fa™» rlte ; and his methods of fißhtmg appeal to the audiences.
