VEILED DISEASES
AN INCREASE BRTOKTED. The number of cases of venereal disease under treatment at the clinic established in connection with the Wellington Hnspitnt is on the increase. In n report nulimitted to yesterday's meeting: of the Hospital Bnnrd the following passage, occurred :—''Work in the synhilis section in still on the increase. This last month there have been a lar.ee number of men reporting for examination, no doubt suggested to them by newspaper reports of last two months. Of these, verv few hnve required any treatment. Of the new cases seen, most are 6f long xtanding, only three being cases of primary infection."
In all, 87 patients attended the clinic for treatment of this disease, iho detail* bpiiifr as follow:—Mule*, old msps seen. BO; new eases, 12; lotal. 72; treatment" divon, 187. -Females: Old eases seen, lfti new cases, 2; total 15; treatments given. 36.
Ac regards gonorrhoea, the report stnt> ed lliat there were in fMoher a lai'S" number of n«w cases on tlie male side— IG. Of these five were new infection"., and the remainder eases of a chrnnie nature. All men attending were procTCß*. inn well. The ward' eases had been nil of a slight character, and their .-tay hnd, in each ease, been short.
