METHODISM'S CENTENARY
RAISING THE SUM OF £10,000. TIIO centenary of Methodism in New Zealan<Lfal!s on January' 22, .1922, the •first minister, the l!ev. S. Leigh, having landed at Whangaroa on January 22, 1822. The mailter of properly celebrating the event wns discussed 1 by the District Synod in Auckland. It , was decided to endeavour to bring about a great spiritual awakening to make family worship general and establish a league of prayer. Celebrations of the firs'/ landing aro to be held at Whangaron, and other centres throughout the Dominion. An effort will be made to raise the sum of ,-E'lo,ooo' to mark the centenary. , .The Rev.' A. . C.. Lawry wns appointed general secretary, and the Hevs. W. A.-Sinclair and T. G. Brooks organising secretaries. The Kev. C. 11. Olds, organiser of tho young pc-ople's department. is to co-operate. Arrangements were also made for a guarantee fund for tho publication of a history of Methodism which'is being written by the Rev, W. J. Williams.
