FEDERAL CLUB

The report submitted v at the • annual meofing of the Wellington Federal Olub, held on Thursday, stated that tho balance-sheet disclosed a .very satisfactory state of affairs, the excess of income over expenditure amounting to £79 19s. lOd. "During the past year (says tho report) tho club controlled the Now Zealand amateur billiard championship meeting. In addition to local representatives, players from Auckland, Dunedin, aud Wanganui participated, and the various gamce were, keenly contested. The amateur championship waß won by Mr. E. W. Warren, who represented the Auckland' Amateur Sports Club. Owing to various counter attractions, tho committee have been unable to arrange for the usual quota of club contests, but 'The Metz Memorial Cup Tourney' was competed for and won by Mr. 11. Garforth, and a snooker tourney was won by Mr. W. J. King. Tho club championship billiard and snooker tournaments are now being held, aud have profided many Interesting games to date. Hearty congratulations are extended to Mr. W. 'N. Tucker, who is the present holder of 'Tho (,'rystallate Oup Championship.' In appreciation of past services rendered to the club, Messrs.. J. Doyle and W. J. Young were unanimously elected life members at tho last animal meeting. The membership'rrtll has a total of 206. During the year 33 now members were elecl#d, 14 resigned, 8 were struck off, and 1 deceased."

The election' of officers and committee resulted as follows:—President, Mr. H. E. Searlo (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs. T. R, Archibald, J. Doyle, W. A. Fordham, T, R, Morrison (all re-elected); treasurer. Mr. B. A. Guise (re-elected): auditor, Mr. W. H. Jones; secretary, Mr. W. 11. Gledhiill: committed. Messrs. A. O. Orossan, H. Edwards, E. Gibbs, B. J. Kolleher, H. B. Longmore. James Meßton, W. L. Morgan, L. A. Spicer, A. Q. Washer.
