In the course of his Teply lord Jelliooe remarked: "Mr. Harkness and members of the Wellington Harbour Board: I thank you most siiuserely for your welcome to me on my landing here to occupy the position as His Majesty's Governor-General of New Zealand. It is (i source of great satisfaction to.mo. to be received so kindly by the representatives of the maritime commerce of this port, mid I hone that during my term of office the trading activities with which you are connected will recover entirely from the effects of the •late war, and that -the port with its fine harbour will become more flourishing than ever. ' I am most grateful to you for your much'too generous references to myself and to lady .Tellicoe and to the members of my. family. It is with the greatest pleiisure that I .renew my acqiiai7itanco with the Dominion in which I spent so many happy weeks only a short year ago. and I look forward with the greatest happiness, the greatest anticipation, to the time which lies bffore me." • His Excellency concluded amid n.loml and' spontaneous outburst of cheering.
