WHITE AUSTRALIA POLICY
MOST VITAL PROBLEM TO-BAY. Melbourne, September 24. Senator Millen, addressing a gathering of business men, referred to his mission to the Geneva Conference of the League of Nations. He said that of the many problems he had discussed none was mora vital to Australia than the White Australia policy. It was as essential to Australia as the Monroo doctrine to America, or freedom of the seas to Britain. "We have convinced ourselves of the reasonableness and justice of that policy, and now had to convince the nations of the world "that our flttitudo is right and tho only logical one. Wo must fill Australia with white men; otherwise wa will run _ a great.risk of other nations endeavouring to fill Australia for us." Urging the need for immigration, he declared that if a While Australia had to be successfully maintained, the population must be considerably increased by men of it*, own kith and kin, particularly Britishers who had fought in the war.— Press Assn.
