NEW GOLF LINKS
SUPPLEMENTARY TO COURSE AT BERHAMPORE.
A gang of men, under the Director of Reserves (Mr. J. M'Kenzio) has begun the work of laying out the new golf links on the Town Belt, between Adelaide Road and tho west side of Newtown Park. This fino extent of undulating, country will provide another round of nine holes, making, with tho existing links a full 18-hole course. Tho first teo on the new links will bo located in the paddock opposite Wakefield Park, on Adelaide Road. A portion of that area near the road is to bo reserved as a rest park and playground for children, but that will not interfere in the lenst with golf. The lino of tho courso will be southward from the first tee, then up a gentle 6lopo towards Loraud Street and south-west to an elevated point at the back of Newtown Park, from which a magnificent view is obtained of Island Bay and Cook Strait beyond. Tho homo trail is almost directly west back to tho grassy sward which Hanks Adelaide Road. The courso will be a sporting one, yet tho grades are nowhere arduous. Those who wish to play tlio full 18 holes will have to carry over Adelnido Road from the ninth hole.
One big improvement to Adelaide Road will be effected by planting four rows of flowering shrubs along tho road lino' on the eastern side, and the erection of a low fence, with gates convoniently placed opposite-tho first tee, and tho littlo restpark below. The new links will be ready for play at the .beginning cf next Masotu
