« ROYAL JUBILEE BAZAAR LIBERAL RESPONSE TO APPEAL A summary of a cablegram received by the Government l'roui the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London (buJames Alien) was published last month announcing that Her Royal Highness Princess Alice had invited Lady Alien | to provide a stall stocked with New Zealand products ut tho Jubiteo Bazaar of the Dr. Harnardo's Homes, to be held in London in December, and the response niado by Dominion manufacturers in making donations for the bazaar has b&en highly satisfactory. Goods that have been donated for the bazaar nro now being received in K Shed on the Wellington wharves for transport to London. Tha Minister of Industries and Commerce (tho Hon. E. P. Lee). who has been in communication with the local authorities of the four centres nnd provincial districts concerping donations for tho bazaar, stated at Hie week end that on all sides tho appeal lie made to local bodies shipping companies, manufacturers, and others interested in llio laudable object for which tho bazaar was being held was very praiseworthily met, and' the result would be that the institution will receive considerable benefit from the donors of goods, and New Zealand a valuable advertisement for its products. The wholesale value of somo of the donations made by New Zealand firms ranged lroni £1 up to nearly .£IOO, and tile class of goods presented were of a kind much needed in London at the present time. The following is a list of the companies and firms .which had either made donations of goods or promised to do so up to the present: Woollen Factory Co., Ltd.; Messrs. Lane, Walker, Ifudkita, Ltd., Asliburton; the Hruce Woollen Manufacturing Co., the AYellington Woollen Manufacturing Co.; the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Co.; thtl Wear 1 Moat Freezing Co.; Messrs. T. J, Edmonds and Co., Christchurch; tho Gisborne Sheepfarniers' Frozen Meat Co., Ltd.; the N.Z. Co-operative Honey Producers' Association, Ltd., Auckland; the 'Wellington Meat Export Co., Ltd.; tho Auckland Farmers' Freezing Co., Ltd.; the N.Z. Soap and Candle Co., Wellintfton; Messrs. flnllantyne and Co., Chriistcliurch; tho Canlcrt/ury Seed Co., Ltd.; the Canterbury Frozen Meat Co.; Messrs. KempthorneX Prosser and Co.; Messrs. lvirkpatrick and Co., Nelson; tho Hawko's Bay Frozen Meat Co.; Tourist Department; Ngaero Co-operativo Dairy Co. In addition to tho above, tho Hon. Mr. Leo stated that the Wellington Harbour Board had decided to charge the actual cost only of handling the goods for shipment for the bazaar, the Defence Department had given free storage in Wellington, and the New Zealand Government Railways, the Union fcjteam Ship Company, Messrs. Richardson nnd Co., Napier, the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Shaw, Savill nnd Albion Company, ' <ind tho Commonwealth and Dominion lines, had generously consented to carry goods for the bazaar free of cost. The town clerks at Stratford, Masterton, nnd Nelson had written, stating that their councils anticipated being able to collect goods in tho respective districts. The Director of Vocational Training, Wellington, had intimated that the soldiers undergoing training in hospitals proposed donating a number of articles which they had made, and this collection, tho Minister stated, would form not the least attractive at the bazaar. As the bazaar ires being hold at the beginning of December, Mr. Lee said iit ■would bo necessary that goods should b» ready to go forward afc the beginning of next month, and those oompauies whioh had not yet made donations, but ivislied to do bo, had until the end of this month to send goods intended for the bazaar to K Shed, Wellington.
