SATURDAY'S GAMES. . The final of the Rugby League competition was played at, Petono on Saturday between Petone and Suburbs, the two leading teams. Unfortunately the Suburbs Olub was represented by a very weak team, six of their players being on the 6ick list. With the aid of four juniors and two new recruits to the code-Smiley and Shanahan—they placed a team on the field. Petone proved too strong, however, and won a, fast and open game by 42 points to 6, thus securing the championship for the season. After being defeated in the two first games they have gone through without being beaten, and thoroughly deserve their win, as they paid strict attention to training throughout. Petone North secured the Junior Shield, uot having sustained a defeat, Central and Suburbs being level for second place. PETONE, 42; SUBURBS, 6. Playing at Petono. the home team easily defeated Suburbs by 42 points to 6. For the winners Kruse (2), Whitley (2), Nicholls (2), Pukatauu (2), Shanahan, Porter, and TimniDrman Bcorcd tricß. Nicholls and Henderson converted one each. Nicholls kicked a penalty goal, and Baulke potted a goal. For the losers Salisbury scored twice. Mr. 0. Murphy was referee.
