GRASS-GRUB ACTIVE IN WANGANUI DISTRICT

Br Telegraph—Special Correspondent. Wanganui, August 18. The grass-grub has been responsible for considerable losses to farmers in other part? of the Dominion, as a result of its ravages on pasture lands. It has lately been active in tho Wanganui district. Formerly the grub operated mainly on light grass, but this year it has got into heavy land as well. A large black grub has also made its appearance in the district, and tbe Sub-Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union has decided to make'representations to the Agricultural Department on the matter with a view to ascertaining tho best method of counteracting the activity of the pest.
