A much larger number of the latter could have been disposed _of at very high rates. Sheep were in fair supply, and met with a somewhat easier market, The quality of the fat cattle offered showed an improvement on late yardings, and values were about 10s. above last week's rates. Fat Cattle—A medium yarding, Lumbering 185 h,ead. The quality w:is good, the standard being much higher than Into yardings. At the opening of the sales competition was good, and prices showed an advance. Extra prune liwivyweight bullocks Tenlised up.to £U 12s. Gd.. prime from .£23 Ifls. to .£3O, nvciiuin .£l9 to .£22 10s.. light and unfinished sorts from ,£ls 10s. upwards. For medium and inferior sorts competition was decidedly slack at values 2s. below last week's rates. There was, however, a firming tendency towards the close of tho sale. Bd.. light and unfinished sorts 31s. upwards; extra prime.heavy-weight ewes realised up to 595., prime 445. to 50s. 9d., medium 36a. to 425. 6d., light and aged 84s. upwards. ' Lambs.—A very small yarding, only 101 being offered for sale. The quality was of the medium description. lambs suitable 'lor butchers realised from 28s. to 375. a", head. A few pens of store lambs offered'wore difficult to sell. Pigs.-'J. fair yarding, which met with keen competition at prices on a par with late ruling rates. Best baconers realised from ls.-OW. to Is.
