A meeting of ; business people and settlers, from all parte of the river and Helensville, was held yesterday to discuss the question of rail connection with a deep water port on tho Kaipara Harbour, After discussion, resolutions were carried in'favour of obtaining improved access to Auckland by means of a branch lailway line from 'Helensville to deep water at Shelly Beach, to avoid the present difficulties in reaching the Helensville railway by river, and that the meeting takesteps to obtain <i trial survey and an estimate of tho cost of the proposed branch line. A deputation was appointed to wait on, tho Minister of Public Works at Wellington. Tho Wairoa Bridge Conference met yesterday to open tenders for the erection of a bridge over the Wairoa Eiver. Acceptance of the tenders was adjpurneiJsll Tuesday.
