MOTOR COLLISION CASE
VERDICT FOR PLAINTIFF.
Hearing was concluded in the Supremt Court ou Saturday of the civil action arising out of a collision between two motor-cars in Tasman Street on Juno 30. Tht claim was for .£530 damages. The plaintiff was Thomas Hull, puinter, of Wellington, and the defendants were Walter James Gardner and William John March, taxi proprietors, also of Wellington. Tho case was taken before His Honour Mr. Justico Edwards and «, jury of twelve. Mr. T. Neavo appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. 11. P. O'Leary for the defendants, who made a counter-claim for ,£195 damages, The defendant Gardner Rave evidence that he proceeded down- Tasman Street at about 20 miles an hour and 6aw tho plaintiff's car about ton yards from tho intersection. It was almost in tho centre of Rugby Street. Plaintiff pnllea round n bit to the right, when -witness blew his horn. Witness accelerated the car to get past him quickly. When witness was about yards away plaintiff altered his course and made an attempt to go on his left-hand side across Tasman Street. Witness swerved to the right and caught plaintiff's car in the rear. Both cars were damaged. He did not know how ho pulled up.
Corroborative evidence was given by witnesses who were passengers in defendant's oar at the time.
After a retirement lasting an hour and twenty minutes the jury brought in a verdict for the plaintiff for .£253.
