The council, after considering tho matter, decided to accede to the request, A poll must'be held during the'current month. It was pointed out by the Mayor that a meeting held about four months ago unanimously decided that the time was not opportune for the borough to amalgamate with the city unconditionally, and as that -was the unanimous opinion of tho meeting, he did not think the matter should have been brought up durlm: the present council's term of office. The Mavor said he would take an early opportunity of calling a meeting of ratepayers to discuss the matter.
