FIRE ON LINER RARANGA

LITTLE DAMAGE TO THE VESSEL. The fire which broke out. oil the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Karauga on Thursday evening, was put out about 2 o'clock yesterday morning. As a result of the fire some GO, bales of hemp were aifectcil, mostly by water, and 50 cases of tinned meats and two dumps of wool were damaged. A survey of the vessel was underraken yesterday, but/ the damage to tlio ship seems to have been very slight.. The cargo which was damaged was loaded at Auckland. Quite the seat, of tlio fire was a stack of kauri gum,, and beneath the ton -'tween dccks was a valuable consignment of cheese. These goods , were not damaged. An inquiry will bo held.
