A big scheme for extending tho port facilities on the south coast of England is behind an .application to the Light Railway Commissioners for -jonsent to n liglit railway being buict on tho. western sido of the liivcr Arun, from near Littlehfimptctn (Sussex) swing bridge to the Brighton Company's system at Ford Junction. It is.proposed to make n dfepwator basin on that sido of tho river to accommodate 2000-ton ships, build wharves, cold store, and bunker oil depots.
