Disguised men .raided a fishing hut at Castle Mownroche, County Cork, where Brigadier-General Lucas and two colonels were sleeping after a day's sport. The raiders seized the sleepers in the name of the Ihish Republic and a/so seized a motor-car, from which one colonel jumped and attempted to escape, but was shot seriously. The other colonel was permitted to attend to his colleague, who was taken to Feruioy • hospital. The Sinn Feiners departed with Brigadier-Gen-eral Lucas to an unknown destination. L -Aus.-N.Z. BARRACKS ATTACKED STUBBORN DEFENCE BY SERGEANT AND SIX CONSTABLES. (Rec. June 28, 5.5 p.m.) London, June 28. Between two hundred and three hundred armed men attacked Borrisokane barracks, near Menagh, in the early hours. A sergeant and six constables stubbornly defended, firing for : three hours. The attackers threw turf-sods saturated-with petrol, setting fire to the barracks. The roof of the building was shattered.
